Zen Healthcare IT welcomes new Manager, Architecture and Engineering


COSTA MESA, Calif.March 24, 2016PRLog — Zen Healthcare IT, LLC, welcomes John Todd, a highly experienced healthcare interoperability architect and engineer.  John will serve as the Zen Team’s Manager of Architecture and Engineering.  John joins a talented team of Zen Project Executives and Engineers who provide broad and deep expertise in healthcare interoperability projects.

“It was inspiring to see the passion that the Zen team expressed when discussing the company’s vision in being a part of solving the complex issues regarding healthcare interoperability, John explained.  “It was also exciting to see the transparency within the company as everyone works together to provide solutions.  At the end of the day it is working with great people to do challenging things and make a difference, and that seemed to be a part of the Zen’s team philosophy.  So I am honored to be a part of that.”

John brings over twenty years of computer science and engineering experience to the Zen Team along with his laid back “Zen Master” style.  For the past seven years John has specialized in healthcare interoperability and health information exchange technology.  John’s Healthcare IT specific experience includes working for some of the largest and most prestigious health systems in the U.S., including Banner Health and Dignity Health.

In addition, John headed up system architecture and design for Behavioral Health Information Network of Arizona (BHINAZ), a leader in exchanging behavioral health data.  While at BHINAZ, John helped design their HIE strategy leveraging both proprietary and Mirth technology.  Using Mirth Connect as the integration engine, he designed and developed a lab order and result HL7 interface hub with Sonora Quest Labs.  He developed an outbound Continuity of Care Document (CCD) generation process using C#, and worked extensively to enable interoperability between the HIE and NextGen Ambulatory EHR.  John also developed a Master Patient Index process that created a unique identifier for patients that visited other facilities in the BHINAZ provider network.

Given this deep and broad experience in healthcare interoperability projects,  John has in-depth technical experience with Mirth Connect, the Mirth HIE stack, NextGen, GE Centricity, and Corepoint.  In addition, he has designed and built many different data exchange interfaces for a wide variety of Healthcare IT platforms including a wide variety of EHR’s and laboratory systems.  John is an experienced developer in Java, JavaScript, C++, C and C#, and his significant database experience includes PostgresSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Maria DB, and Oracle.

John has a Bachelors of Science in Applied Computer Science from Troy University and is working on his Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate from Stanford University.  His passion for designing and implementing a range of interoperability solutions while working closely with clients makes him a great fit for the Zen Team.  John enjoys spending time with his family and currently lives near Phoenix, Arizona.
